Its simple if you dont have it installed then a game devs has it as requirement, you cant start the game. if you notice no one want to comment on it. So yes, it's perfectly safe to download from places like Microsft- they're not going to be comprmoised for the simple reason that if they were you'd be hearing about it in the news INSTANTLY.Ĭan you please stop reason, with or what you think you know about it. Sometimes you can just be missing a file or it's different slightly or corrupt and so on.Īnd no developer can EVER account for the gaxillions of possible PC dconfigurations there are. So it CANNOT be a problem their end.īut the reason I mentioned older games is because that is endemic of them. I only ran it last week, and that issue did not arise for me. Shenmue 1 and 2 should run perfectly fine. You simply don't have th required files or something is inhibiting them, or any of a myriad load of potential problems. The game is already downloaded, what more does it need access to and why do some games still play without giving such access, while others do not? Ah well in those cases, that's a problem endemic to YOUR PC. It just seems awkward that it asks for more control than anyone should be willing to give. Now a lot more are beginning to ask for that permission and not all will allow me to go any further if I click X. Some let me continue to play, even if I click on the X. Much like Steam or a game asking me permission to allow them further access to my PC, which I am weary of as well. The game is already downloaded, what more does it need access to and why do some games still play without giving such access, while others do not? It seems it is becoming more and more common. And there are a few other games that are doing it, but most did not have this problem until some what recently. I can get around that by playing through the Shrine (mod?). Ultimate Doom lets me get to the skill level screen, but then the game freezes. Postal Redux came out it 2016 and Perfect Vermin came out this month actually. *cough* Someone mentioned that because the launcher will not allow me to proceed further, even though it does not outright tell me the problem, that is the problem. When those older games were released (and I bet they ARE ALL older games aren't they?) those packages were likely already on the then-current versions of Windows.īut time moves on and they're not there now, so you need to install them, that's all.
